For regular stove use when you have room for a larger loose-filled supply. Check the bag volume before choosing your quantity.
Running a wood burner regularly soon shows you how much difference the right logs make. Wood that fits the firebox, a quantity you can store and a delivery you can unload are the useful things to get right before ordering.

If the stove is lit most evenings, look at how quickly you use your existing supply before choosing the next load. A bigger order can reduce how often you reorder, but you still need enough covered, ventilated space for every log.
Compare the declared volume of the packs, rather than judging by the photograph alone. A stacked crate and a loose-filled bag contain air spaces in different proportions, so read how the quantity is described.
Ash gives a steady burn and is a useful everyday choice. Birch catches readily and produces a bright flame. Oak burns more slowly once the fire is established.
Check the cut as well as the species. Follow your stove manual for the maximum log length, loading and airflow. Our Ready to Burn information explains more about dry firewood.
Bulk bags and crates arrive on a pallet by tail lift lorry. The driver will not drive onto your property. A pallet truck needs a flat, hard route; it cannot cross gravel or grass, and unsuitable access means the load will be left kerbside.
Before ordering, consider where the lorry can stop and where the pallet can be unloaded. Check the vehicle dimensions and access requirements if your entrance is narrow, the road slopes or parked vehicles restrict the space.

That depends on the stove, how often you light it and how much heat you need. Use your previous consumption as a guide, rather than relying on a fixed winter-long estimate.
